There's a newer nuvi firmware build available - you might start there. 
Also, I'd stick with only one port in Garmin mode at a time.  It will 
probably work with both, but any extraneous traffic on the other port 
might cause problems.

Baud rate settings are ignored in Garmin mode, so that's not the 
problem.  I'd make sure you've got the profile switching options 
disabled - if it's switching constantly, it'll be clearing some internal 
state and won't ever get valid data.
