Thanks for the quick reply.
I have profile switching disabled.  At least I hope it is disabled.

Currently - in both profiles..  Port A is auto, port B is Garmin
And I am not using the Y splitter, so the only activity on the serial port 
should be the FMI on Port B.

I will update the Nuvi and report back tomorrow.
