jeff, apart from the advice you're getting on taking your gear on board the
aircraft, you should plan to get to the parade route early...very early.
i've heard of spectators spending the night on the street staking out their
space. i would contact the parade committee as soon as possible, like maybe
yesterday, explain the situation (leave out the ham radio stuff...they're
not likely to care about that) and your disability. there just might be a
seating area set aside for folks with physical limitations. good luck.

My son's High School will be marching in the 2010 Rose Bowl parade, so my
wife and I will take our first vacation in California. We are all Hams and I
have never been on an airplane before. What will I need to do to get my HT's
and APRS rig on the plane? I would love to work the parade route and see my
sons group walk by, but I can't walk very far any more. Is there any where
to seat down and watch from the road side?.
Thanks,
Jeff
