As others mentioned, the Nuvi 350 must have external power to use it in FMI mode. Normally, data is on the side connector and power is on the rear (cradle) connector. I haven't modified any of my 350s but some people have done some re-wiring so that data and power is on the rear connector. Out of the box, only power is supplied to the rear connector. If you open the Nuvi up and swing the data connections over to un-used pins on the rear connector, you can come up with a "one wire" solution. I seem to recall that some solutions involved a pushbutton or reed switch to tell the Nuvi it was in the cradle or something like that. If you search the archives and look in the files area (Yahoo) you should find some more info on this. 73 es cul - Keith VE7GDH -- "I may be lost, but I know exactly where I am!"
