I bought the Tracker 2 from you a while back and it has been working without
any issues until recently. June 1 brought some pretty good lightning down
here.....even on surge protectors and UPS it wiped a mother board on one
machine, damaged a network card on another, and the small Dell that was running
the aprs seems to have lost the serial port connectivity. The tracker has been
set up to do weather, digi, and an Igate. The UIview was running on the
internet side fine. The digi seemed to be functioning on the tracker side as
you would hear it key up the transmitter. Just nothing going through the
modem-no receive and no transmit

So last night I hooked up a new machine running XP service pack 3 and did the
UIview install and used your program for the tracker. I managed to get into the
tracker without much issue (as opposed to the other Dell which would not
connect throught the serial port). I noticed that the firmware was sitting at
version 0 and since I had screen shots of the original communication and the
config files for comparision from the other machine (version was something like
50xxx) I figured the tracker would need a firmware upgrade.

I attempted to use the web side for the task of gettting the new firmware but
it kept giving me errors. So I download the file from the website and decided
to use the file upload feature.. It would start and then crash giving me a
windows error message. I figure okay maybe this XP machine was too high tech
for it so I swtiched everything over to a machine running NT4. Again when
trying to do a firmware check on the web it couldn't find the location. The
upload file feature failed as well.

So then I went back to the XP machine and using my screen shots configured the
tracker as close as I could get......some areas like KISS settings weren't
available on the version 0. I then went through UIVieew and set up the
identical settings as before for the program.
The tracker has been set up to do weather, digi, and an Igate just as before.

As soon as I got uiview to connect to the server my weather was going out over
the internet.....but there seemed to be no transmission over air. The 2 meter
rig was receiving data from other stations and the data was going to the
internet and appears to be hearing just fine based on the aprs.fi info I did
see the red lights come on and off on occasion - I figured the digi side. But I
do not seem to be getting the tracker to tranmist data from UIview out to the
transceiver (which is a dedicated Yausu 2 meter rig). The cables I checked and
they haven't been moved since originally setup.

So are my problems with the tracker related to the lack of firmware upgrade or
would the transmit function be damaged somehow?

I need a solution asap as a lot of hams around here rely on my system (ironic
eh?)....Like I said I had no problems prior to this. the machine that appears
to have the serial port issue was a 500mhz Dell so I suspect it was about time.
Everything else that I had running during the storms are fine.

Help please.
