On the first look it looks nice and less cluttered. But can you re-add
the small icons to the popup menus? Having a text-only menu is a bit dull.
And now that you've gained some screen space I think I'd be a good idea
to re-add the search field to the main screen: having to click in the
magnifying glass and waiting for a new page to load before typing a
search text is a little awkward and slow.
