Mike,
If you give the users a screen field with only 10 positions, then the
users will have to choose which ten positions are the most significant
for them. You don't have to truncate anything.
If you are truncating something is because the users are entering more
than 10 positions on the screen and your back-end system cannot handle
the excess. But I don't think this is your problem, since you described
the problem as a DDE screen "real estate" issue.
