Given the reason {45 CFR 160.104 (b)} the Implementation Guide Addenda
and NDC NPRM's are being prepared, I'd certainly be thinking very
seriously about applying for the ASCA extension.

How should the industry handle the NDC code requirement, then? If the
addenda (which I thought were to include a revision/retraction of the
NDC
code requirement except for pharmacy claims) are not released until
March,
their effective date will be after the 10/16/02 compliance date. In
effect,
this would place us all in non-compliance unless we chose to implement
the
requirement.
