This is so obvious someone has probably asked it already but...We are a health plan that has always paid providers by check. We do not do any form of electronic payment to providers. Does transaction 835 require us to begin paying electronically if a provider requests it or can we continue paying solely by paper? If we decide to continue with paper checks, are we out of compliance with HIPAA if a provider requests an electronic payment via the 835 and we refuse?
