No, you can relax.
The 835 is called remittance advice. You can
continue to pay by check and reference the check number in the 835 in the
TRN segment.
From what I hear, it will take a while (years)
until financial institutions can process the 835, make an electroninc funds
transfer and then pass the 835 on to the provider.
For the time being, I believe that smaller payers
will continue to write checks.
