Hi list

I haven't reported on my activities for a while, but I have been quite
busy. Here are some of the things I worked on in the last few weeks:

0.9 and 0.9.1 has been released (see previous mail earlier today). I
would guess that we'll have 0.10 in the next week or three. The rest of
the comments only apply to Pootle 0.10

Several layout bugs were fixed and some layout improvements were made.
Nothing drastic, but we believe everybody will welcome them.

A double click on your tranlation will open it for editing.

One can commit to CVS/SVN from within Pootle. Before only CVS/SVN update
was possible. If you have the commit right, you will see the action
listed for each file in a project with version control information.

Pootle can now display comments (translator comments and automatic
comments). Location references (#: style comments) are also displayed.

Pootle now displays a visual indication for fuzzy messages.

Pootle can now display entries from a translation memory. The matching
is done beforehand so that interactivity is not affected. I'm currently
working on implementing terminology matching, which should be finished
quite soon. Terminology matching will probably be interactive (not
pre-generated).

Pootle now displays spaces at the start and end of strings, as well as
ones you would want to see in the middle of a message (doubles, after a
newline, etc.).

Pootle now has a brand new right-to-left (rtl) layout. It is in use for
Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Kashmir, Pashto, Urdu, and Yiddish. If you know
of other languages that definitely always use right-to-left, let us
know. The CSS changes are not entirely finished, but should be quite
soon. Thanks to all the testers so far.

These are not all the improvements for 0.10, but most of them.

Furthermore I fixed bugs, as always, and started writing a bit about our
upcoming work on roles and permissions. Pootle already manages
permissions per project, but we want to extend that to be much more
powerful and useful. Initial thinking work is available at these two
pages in the wiki:
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/wordforge/roles
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/wordforge/permissions
Another idea that did the round:
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/pootleoffline

Feedback is appreciated, of course.

I hope everybody is now even more excited about the future of Pootle!

Friedel
