This part is easy for the textarea. Add 
        background: #F9EEE2;
under the section "textarea.translation"

For the left hand side it will be slightly more involved since the rows
are coloured alternately gray/white to differentiate the rows. 


Have other people also experienced problems with the current colour
scheme?
