If you are trying to say "send po and ts files to hell and use xliff instead", I agree with you, it would be wonderfull if both gnu and qt used the same human-readable file format, and this were a (subset of a) scalable standard as the mentioned, which can already be used for other purposes. However at the present time this people are just trying to build a volunteer group to continue the work they have done (with $$$) with the translation of OO.org, and all they need is a web tool to edit po files. > Anyway, thank you for the report!
