I agree - I just didn't check yet whether they are 100% the same. If necessary, a distributed VCS class can be derived that contains these parts (if this is the appropriate division of them) and serve as the super class for the distributed systems. I guess you and Lars are more knowledgeable now to tackle this than I am. I don't know to what extent the merging code in Pootle that use the version control code should / can also be moved to the toolkit, but this is at least a start.
