to figure out what's going we need more information, please edit the
localsettings.py file to enable debugging output, ie change the line
that says
DEBUG = False
to 
DEBUG = True

then run the ./PootleServer and visit front page again, on the
terminal/console where you ran the ./PootleServer command you should
see debugging messages informing you what Pootle is busy doing.

first time to visit front page might be slow, cause it needs to
calculate and sum statistics for all default languages and projects,
subsequent requests should get this information from cache and be much
faster.
