Hej!
I accidentally tested Pootle in the current trunk state earlier today,
intending on checking out the 2.1.1 tag. I'm not completely sure where the
future of the AJAX development is going, but I did want to comment on a few
things.
1. I really like the direction the views are going, and really think that
the changes being made will make it easier for users to translate — and
faster!
- Off the bat, though, I don't like the change to the completion bars.
Perhaps I'm wrong (which is certainly possible) but the light
green might be
hard to see against the darker green.
2. What's with the limitation with the number of translations on a page?
I would imagine that new units should just be auto-fetched and prepended to
the page (Google Images-style)
3. I see that clicking on a unit makes loads it (yay! Fixing a bug I
opened, and nicely done, better than what we do locally), and I see we're
using Hijax links to handle it. Has consideration been given to instead use
the Google-version of Hijax links, ones that allow pages to be crawled and
to easily provide content to Javascript unaware browsers.
- Making AJAX Applications
Crawlable<http://code.google.com/web/ajaxcrawling/>
- I imagine this to be the AJAX page to normal browsers, then pages
similar to what gets currently sent for crawlers.
I'll probably do a fuller test of trunk in the weeks leading up to 2.2, and
probably have more ideas then.
