David,

You can ask FCC Office of Engineering and Technology
contacts: Anthony Serafini (202) 418-2456 or
John Reed (202) 418-2455, but the best source
would be the document itself.

You can download document from
http://www.fcc.gov/oet/info/

If you still have questions after reading the full text,
please let me know. I'll host tomorrow Art Wall, Chief,
FCC at IEEE EMC New England chapter meeting and will
provide competent answers on Wednesday, May 22, 1996.

Subject: FCC New DOC process for Eqp Auth

We have several new products in the pipeline, requiring FCC Class B EMC
approvals. Where can I find out more about the use of a DOC instead of the
5 to 8 week wait for the usuall FCC wait for the Approvals. Specifically
is JQA (Japan) a test lab following under the requirements. The product is
a computer peripheral being made in Japan and FCC testing is now being
completed by JQA in Japan. Any pointers or help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

David Heath
