hello Rich( ?),

If your question is ce-related, and you have opted for route 10.1, so-called
self-certification route, you just have to
re-declare on a new form(**) the compliance of your new model, referring to
the test results of the old model . In your technical file, you should include
a form stating that the model number changed, and no technical modifications
have been carried out. The reliability of this method depends on the accuracy
that any modifications have been documented after testing and before model
number change. The whole procedure is necessary only for legal and government
inspection reasons. If the documentation of test-report - engineering change
orders - ce-technical file is credible, no-one will ask further questions
about the model number.

No section covers this, but it follows from the declaration you made up
referring to an older model number, and simply having no declaration for the
new model. In terms of the ce-directive a new model number is a new apparatus.

**) the form is called "Declaration of Conformity" and both the EN45000 series
and ISO 25 explain about the information herein. Very simple though,
Manufacturer / Model - ID / test report number / harmonized standards/ date and
signature. Of course the text should state thet your product complies. You can
make it as pretty as you like or as simple as you are lazy :<).

On our web site we have a simple example available for download :

I am trying to get some clarification regarding re-certification of
products if the model number changes. It is my understanding that if you
change the model number of a product you may have to re-certify it. Does
anybody know of the section which covers this?
