Hi Jim. You asked: < Who is the responsible party for issuing the declaration of conformity with the EMC and Low Voltage Directives? >
In the UK we are covered by law thus: 1. The Electromagnetic Compatibility Regulations, Statutory Instrument 1992, No. 2372 Part IV, Clause 40.-(1) 'This regulation shall have effect for prescribing the form of an EC declaration of conformity issued IN THE UNITED KINGDOM in respect of relevant apparatus in relation to which the conformity assesment requirements have been complied with pursuant to the standards route to compliance.' (My caps) It implies that the certificate should be raised by your re-seller in the UK. 2. The Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 1994, Stautory Instrument 1994, No. 3260 Clause 10. 'Subject to regulation 12 (2nd Hand equipment) the MANUFACTURER of electrical equipment OR his AUTHORISED REPRESENTATIVE shall draw up in respect of all electrical equipment to which these Regulations apply a written declaration of conformity which shall comprise:-' (My caps) It implies that you or your re-seller can raise the certificate. 'Authorised representative' is strictly interpreted in clause 3 as: 'means a representative established within the Community appointed by a manufacturer of electrical equipment to act on his behalf in relation to these regulations.' Hope that helps a bit. Chris Dupres Surrey, UK.
