A better camera and bluetooth is not what makes the difference between the 600
and 650. For my money, it was the four times better screen res and the much
faster processor and the ability to transfer at EDGE speeds. But there's also
the better keyboard, bluetooth, and better camera (although the camera is the
same res as the 650, just better exposure and color). Its of course a personal
decision and future Treos will be better. Whether wifi will be a feature any
time soon is a big question mark. We may just see EVDO and HSDPA Treos before
we see wifi ones...

Subject: Re: [Treo] Would you upgrade to a Treo 650 now?

when will the 670 and the 700 come out - any news? I'm wondering if it's not
worth it to just wait - especially if it has to be an unlocked version.
 I have a Treo 300 and a Treo 600 and I don't see a compelling enough reason
to junk my investment there for Bluetooth and a better camera. For what I
need - making phone calls, playing and streaming MP3s, putzing around with
SSH/VNC/FTP, SMS, occasional email, time-wasting games (for waiting in
line), and occasional notetaking and reminders.
One thing that would have swayed me was wifi access and the ability to play
and stream good quality video. I realize you can do this now somewhat, but
from what I've seen, the quality leaves a lot to be desired.
I would like to see what killer-app features the new phones have in store.

Yep, what Craig said, except for the part about being happy with things
before the ROM upgrade. I was never able to satisfactorily install my
applications to the SD card; now I don't have to (except D2T, which has
 its
own way of doing that) because the memory block size was reduced. I have
experienced many fewer resets since the ROM update; now down to about 2 a
week, or so. The only software incompatibility I've experienced ever was
 last night when RMRDiet just simply reset the Treo every time it started;
 I
don't care about that since I never used the program anyway, but was just
wanting to test it out. I have a friend with a Cingular 650 who had a
terrible time with the volume problem - used to set it on speakerphone and
hold it up to his ear to hear it; now with the ROM update he has to turn
 the
volume down sometimes. I use VolumeCare and have the same "issue"!!

I use a Bluetooth headset. I tried the Parrot whatever car kit (the one
 you
don't install, but just plug in) and thought it was awful. Neat idea,
though. Just poor sound quality. Others have been OK with it. My
Bluetooth headset works well and is very functional. Only problem is
battery life, but I just plug it in when it runs out of battery and go
 back
to a wired headset until it's ready. That works OK for me; it's
 unrealistic
to expect a teeny headset to have battery life comparable to the Treo's
 "talk time", I guess.

One other thing that's great about the 650 is the ability (due to
non-volatile memory) to swap batteries. Great for travel.
