-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 In addition to my Treo 680 I have a Blackberry 8800, the Pearl's larger sibling with a full keyboard and larger screen. The reason there aren't extra launchers, media players and photo viewers is that the BB doesn't need them. The stock apps are quite good, though I do prefer Opera mini to the built-in browser. There are definitely not as many third-party apps for the BB as for Palm, but there are a lot and most of the commercial apps have BB versions too. The Treo is mine and the BB is for work and I like carrying two devices. It lets me leave work at home when I want to plus when I changed jobs recently I was able to keep all of my old contacts and when I gave back their BB all of my personal data wasn't on it.
To compare and contrast the 8800 and the Treo as I see it: Advantage Treo: - - Touch screen (this is huge) - - 320 x 320 screen - - SD expansion (BB has micro SD) - - Many more apps - - A2DP can be added. The BB doesn't support it at all - - Camera. The Pearl and Curve have one, the 8800 doesn't Advantage BB8800: - - Screen is clearer and brighter - - Stable. My BB has crashed on me only once while the Treo crashes/hangs several times a week - - It's smaller and lighter than the Treo - - Mini-USB plug not the proprietary (and stupid) Treo plug - - It's very stable. - - Battery life is better than the Treo 680 - - Built-in GPS (8800) - - Roller ball (the 8800's is loose but the Pearl's and Curve's are better) - - Did I mention that it's extremely stable? Advantage iPhone. I haven't seen one yet but from everything I've read: - - Multi-touch screen - - Hype - - OS X - - Hype - - Beautiful screen - - Hype Craig Froehle wrote: > > I played with a friend's Pearl last week at lunch and I came away > thinking it was a quite competent device out of the box.
