I got tomtom-maps with my old Palm m515 and the Magellan GPS Companion (sleeve-type gps). I could never install and use the tomtom-suite. Instead I had to buy SWI's Mapviewer Europe, which OTOH had woefully old maps, but at least it worked good enough to guide me through Europe and most of the Balkans... Maybe instability is a tomtom-thing? At least I've never known of anybody being fully happy with it...
