That's probably you use GSM outside USA. Hummmmm.... I use " +" format and for cdma I've got magicall to convert the + to the required digits. You are lucky in USA to have fixed digits of numbers. Your city codes are 3 digits. In India metros have 2 digits, other areas are 3, 4, 5 digits.
