I really dislike WM - a few people have them where I work (BB is the standard) and they are a pain in the neck, even though the stability may have improved. What hasn't improved enough - though it has gotten somewhat better - is memory leaks. The bottom line for me is whether the device makes my life easier, and WinMob and BB devices don't do that. Palm is getting to that point pretty quickly, unfortunately, but it still works better for me. I really want to buy a new device but nothing I've seen so far offers anything which makes it worthwhile for me. If Palm goes completely away, I fear that portable devices will stagnate or even get worse, since developers won't see any reason to invest in new designs or technology - it's easier to convince users to deal with design limitations rather than provide more choices.

Not at this point. WM 5 and 6 are pretty mature. They are still faulted for their not particularly intuitive UI, although I've gotten used to it. Just a matter of remapping your brain a bit! ;-) But as far as stability, I think my Treo 700w has reset itself maybe twice since I bought it back last September. Compare that to my 700P which seemed to reset itself at least once or twice a week, and then once or twice (or more) per day after the firmware update! :-o ________________________________________ From: [email protected] <mailto:treo%40yahoogroups.com> [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:treo%40yahoogroups.com> ] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:m.nuttall%40ukonline.co.uk> [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:m.nuttall%40ukonline.co.uk> ] Sent: Friday, June 06, 2008 3:46 PM To: [email protected] <mailto:treo%40yahoogroups.com> Subject: Re: [Treo] Re: Sign of the times? Arent win mob pda/smartphones famous for their instability? Theres symbian based phones but they dont have the depth of software that the palm does.
