Hi Art,

My head is spinning - let us know how it goes!

One note on "the basement issue". I've seen a wide variety of levels of
reception that are device dependent, rather than carrier dependent. For
example, sitting in my house, in my office, at my desk as I am now, my
Sprint service is excellent. When I tried a Verizon BB Storm, one of the
key reasons I took it back was the very poor reception (and attendant
dropped calls) while sitting right where I am now. My son's Samsung
thingamajib (never do remember the model) ALSO ON VERIZON, has excellent
reception sitting right where I am now.

Short point is: you might find the Pre delivers acceptable cell reception
in your basement.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

Don

My observations in Philadelphia.

Work phone BB 8330 Curve on Verizon
Personal phone Centro on Sprint.

I can make voice calls on the BB in places like my basement which had
lousy reception on Sprint. On the other hand, the data is abysmal on
Verizon compared to Sprint. Other than email, I only use data on the
the Verizon BB when I absolutely have to. Pity, because I have tether
service on the BB.

As of the last couple of days, WiMax is up in Philadelphia. I don't
know if the Pre or Pixi support it, but if so, it is a reason to
switch to Sprint. Sprint has a deal with Clear, the WiMax provider.
Clear gets to use Sprint 3g for its customers outside the WiMax
coverage area, and in return, Sprint gets to use WiMax for its
customers in the WiMax (which Sprint touts as 4G) coverage area.
