Another thought:

Export the 1092 memos, break them into their categories, and save each
category as a discrete document.  Then, save that document (e.g., a
text file) on your Pre.  It'll be readable (but not editable) in Doc
View.

Alternately, save them each as a cell in an Excel spreadsheet and view
them in Doc View.

Alternately, alternately (probably the best option, actually), save
each category of memos as a single text file, then import each of the
6 text files into Google Docs (online). That will be viewable AND
editable on your Pre by going to Google Docs via the browser (which
works really well).  If you need a copy on your Pre that doesn't rely
on Internet access, export it the latest version from Google Docs as a
text file (or Word file or Excel file) and then view in Doc View.

It's not ideal, but far from insurmountable.
