I totally understand this. I've been resisting a change from my 700P because on each alternate, I find that I'm losing several things that I feel work well for me.
The biggest deal breaker, for me, is losing DateBk6 with full integration to my contacts. This is followed by TakePhone, CallBlock, metric conversion programs and Power Hero. Other deal breakers (yes, Pre has some) are the balance in my hand and the ability to type with 1 hand while doing something else. I feel I must have a hard switch with feedback to turn off my ringer (I don't want to take the phone out of my pocket when walking into a meeting, to turn off the ringer.) The keys on the keyboard are also important (The Droid, for instance, had flat keys that don't work well for me if I'm typing on it without looking while I'm typing.) On the other hand, I'm maintaining my calendar on both Google Calendar and Palm Desktop, so I do have places from which to restore when the day happens that I have to move. I'm also syncing contacts with Palm Desktop and GooSync, so I have both a computer and a cloud solution available. I'm guessing that when the time comes I will end up on the Android platform, but the jury is still out. I'm still finding that the newer devices are not faster than my 700P (which is very slow) because of their software design. (This is not a scientific study, but rather through discussions with salespeople or users on the street, with the question...."How do you...".
