There are two solutions for syncing tasks and notes with categories to the
Pre. They both use wireless, they both can sync with Palm Desktop or
Outlook, and neither require the cloud. I own them both. I also migrated
from a 700p.

For $30, Classic, from MotionApps.com, is a PalmOS emulator, specifically
the Centro. It supports many, but not all, existing Palm OS apps. The Pre
touch screen is less accurate and sensitive than the Treo, so many of the
programs are a little harder to use, but they did a very good job of making
everything work as good as possible. And since webOS runs much faster than
PalmOS ever did, apps run about twice as fast.

For $40, PocketMirror, from Chapura.com, works with Outlook and supports
WebOS's native Contacts and Calendar. Since category support doesn't exist
with WebOS's Tasks and Memos, they wrote their own, Tasks and Notes. For
syncing with Palm Desktop, they have Echo.

My intent was to use the Pre Plus, but now that I've learned the Pre doesn't
support categories, I may have to stay with the Treo. This is a major deal
breaker unless I discover a solution to this dilemma.

My son and I will be getting Pre Pluses from Verizon on Monday, and Verizon
will be giving each of us a free Pixi Plus as part of a special
introductory
promotion. Not sure what to do with the extra phones. Keep them as backups
I guess.

I'm getting very excited about the new phone! Been using the 700p since
1996. Haven't had a new "toy" in a long time! :-)
