If email is your #1 top priority, and you don't care about the rest of the
gee whiz stuff on the Pre (etc.) then you should seriously consider a
Blackberry with Blackberry Enterprise Services.  It was built as an email
device, and the rest came later.  There is no keyboard better than the BB,
and it's rock solid (except for the Storm 1).  They are very efficient
devices, though not as "fun" to use as the Pre.

 

If you are overstating your use of email a bit in comparison to the rest (if
you really examine how you spend your time on the device), then the Pre
might be good for you, too!  I switched from the BB to the Pre (I'd switched
to the BB from all my Treo/Centros) and find it excellent at managing email,
acceptable (though basic) for calendar and contacts, and just a blast to
use, all around!

I find that I use my phone mostly for email, less so for calendar and
contact maintenance, and (especially when away from home) media
playing - both podcasts and recorded TV shows.
