I'm still waiting as well. Each software vendor has to come with its own
way to sync/backup, and those are evolving. I had to go through this when I
switched to hosted Exchange, since there's no way I'm putting private info
anywhere but on my computer (unless it's encrypted). People who use Google
(Gmail or Google Apps) should think about this too. All it takes is one
unscrupulous employee at the place where your private data live, and
suddenly George Kontos is taking trips and spending money that the real
George Kontos doesn't know about!

Secret! looks fairly far along, but only in beta:
http://www.linkesoft.com/secret/beta. I've never liked the US of the
Splashxx products, but we'll see! It's a race, and someone will get there
first!

Cheers,

Don

Subject: [Treo] Password vault / encryption for Pre

Since the Pre does not support private/hidden records like the old Palm OS
did, I need to put my sensitive data into some sort of secure password
manager. Is there one particular app that most people use for this?

I believe many of you are using Splash ID. I see it listed in the Pre App
Catalog, but it's not even mentioned as being available for the webOS
platform on SplashData's web site.

I'd like to have access to the data both on the handheld and on the PC. In
the App Catalog description, it says backup and desktop sync are "coming
soon". Any idea when that might be? In lieu of proper backup or syncing
ability, does the webOS version provide some way to export the data to a
readable file?

George
