Apparently it is normal for several people who have queried the Google 
help forum.

In another place in the Google help stuff is this:
      Note: Gmail IMAP access is not officially supported for Palm webOS 
devices at this time.

The commbination of the two presentations makes me think Google's got a 
problem with webOS.
      Which brings up one of the problems I have with contemporary help 
systems - the ones that leave it to the users to figure out their own 
problems, while the provider concentrates on sales.

Still, it would be nice to know what's the problem here for those of us 
having it.
