This result, and the entire episode, points out what a tricky problem synchronization is. Ever has it been thus! From the early days of trying to sync a PalmPilot with Outlook, through all the twists and turns with Intellisync, PocketMirror and the others, it’s not a problem for the faint of heart! One reason I like the Exchange/Outlook pair is that they’ve worked this issue out as thoroughly as PalmOS / Palm Desktop had. It always works. Google, in all of its forms, has a long way to go before it (or companion vendors like Companionlink) get it down to the point where sync happens flawlessly.
Don’t get me wrong – Google is coming on strong, and they appear to have a strong commitment to making this work. They’re just not there yet. A post on Palm forum had the suggestion (there were a couple of suggs - this one worked for me). Numbers in the Contact Name field. In my case, a bunch of 'em. Sta-nn for fire station numbers. ABC27 is a tv channel. The local senator's R-33. But I got most of 'em and now I've got 1687 on Google and 1685 on the Pre. Only got four more to find. The person who left the suggestion said he'd found it on another forum. Numbers and slashes are problems. & is OK. Funny thing is, some that sync'd to the Pre still have numbers in the name field. I just hadn't got to them yet to remove the numbers. So it's difficult to know exactly what combination or position causes the problem, and there's still a disparity somewhere because there are two on the Gmail that aren't on the Pre. I'll let ya'll know if I find 'em. On 2/25/2010 12:10 AM, John Messeder wrote: > I actually tried that this afternoon. May again before I go to bed. Only > had 96 contacts yesterday.
