I seemed to get errors and when I looked at the log they said the patch in
question either wasn't available for 1.4 or wasn't needed.  But who knows.
Even though it all worked (except for the one exception I mentioned), I did
have to restart a few times.  It just wasn't as seamless as it might be, but
given that these are hacks to begin with, it certainly is a lot more
straightforward than most!
