LaunchPoint allows minimizing to the "dashboard" - Palm's moniker for
the notification area. Sure enough, it makes the program respond faster.
The downside, however, is it keeps popping up an offer to Close it
whenever you display other notifications, such as missed calls,
voicemail or email notification.
Still, it's a step.
On a related note, I wonder whether there's a way to replace apps in the
launch gesture -- like when you gesture up to select among phone,
contacts, email, etc. could you have a different Contacts handler there,
in addition to or instead of, the stock app.
