I thought of this as I was writing that but had to look up -- which
reminded me to order my subscription to ...
The new Associated Press Stylebook is out. It's the bible for most
journalists (some companies have their own as replacement or adjunct).
This year, there's a whole section on Social Media, including "website"
which AP says is one word.
OK, I can live with that, though I'd have opted for two. But
what's the consistency in "smart phone" - two words according to AP,
when the industry has it as one word, defining, as AP agrees, "An
advanced cell phone that allows for e-mail, Web browsing and
downloadable applications."
"Friend" is both a verb and a noun.
