Robtygart: There are many reasons to avoid non-free drivers/firmware. Your  
going to run into problems at some point down the road. The people here are  
really trying to help. They are doing you a favor by pointing you to places  
that will help you to move away from these issues.

There are lots of issues with non-free software both technical and ethical.  
If you don't care it is still a smart move to get away from the non-free  
components. It's one thing everybody agrees on. Non-free software is not  
ideal. This includes those distributions which include it.
