It would be great if we could come up with a solution to solve this problem for those whom it is a significant hardship for. I don't know how to distinguish those who say they can't afford it from those who really can't afford it though. Having a computer and English language skills is likely in an indicator that a person probably can afford it. I suspect there are very few people that I'd consider to be living below the threshold for which it was really a significant hardship. Most of us have to work and suffer at some point to get what we want. If you really value freedom then figure it out. Stop eating out, stop eating lunch, stop using the computer for a few months, lower the heat or turn it off, do something that'll cut back on your expenses. Or explain your situation and ask for donations. It may humble oneself although I bet there are plenty of people here would put up the cost of the part if not the full price.
