Thythmbox and exaile have plug ins for music transfer with these 
devices.  Still, I'd never get one.  There are players that let one use 
the free Rockbox app on the player.  I find it silly that these things 
don't just plug into a USB and make themselves show up in Nautilus as a 
removable drive; older, non-Apple players used to do this.
