Homeschooling can make your children perhaps better educated, but not "more  
intelligent", that's a difference.
Furthermore, you forget an important point:
It may be that children of public schools get less knowledge in shorter time  
compared to pupils at home, but they make some extremely important  
experiences, especially social ones.
The ability to persist in a system with many failures and to push oneself  
through some hard situations and to develop self confidence although  
receiving some unjust grades is very useful in our society.
I'm german and my educational system surely had many problems. But today, I'm  
glad to have made such experiences, especially the pressure to perform _to  
some level_, since I'm afraid this is normal in the environment you will join  
after school.
Homeschooling means to put the children under a cheese cover (don't know if  
there's a better expression in english; I mean a round half sphere of glass),  
and this has many problems, too.
