Lenovo Thinkpads are known for coming with wifi chipsets that require
non-free firmware. Make sure you consult these resources:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_with_unauthorized_MiniPCI_network_card

If you post the result of the lspci command we can provide more
information.
