Correction:After some more testing, I've observed that (if I wait long enough) the "[mi] EQ overflowing" message also appears if I use the identifying term "*nvidia*", instead of (the recommended by nouveau) "*n*".
So, I hereby confirm that the problem is (still) what was originally reported.
And, after having tried every combination of configuration files, that I could think of, I'm left with the only possible solution being using a different kernel.
