Ergo, I don't believe Facebook takes away freedom.
The difference between Facebook and the Trisquel forum/list is that Facebook is a global, centralised method of communications, which mixes private, group and public communication into one service. That's dangerous. Trisquel, on the other hand, is a public list which, if users are using the list, enables users to communicate off-list and out of its control. Because it's built using free software we can easily replace the list. Archives are also available for download. It's completely different to Facebook. I do think that centralisation does threaten the freedom of communication on the internet. Andrew.
