i think its a good idea to check the md5 file against the iso
you could run a virtual machine in m$ windows
with a gnu/linux distro and then download and check it from there:
and of course if you need help setting up a virtual machine i can help you(i
sadly was once a windows user!)
the only libre user friendly vm i can think of for windows(there are ones for
gnu/linux)
is virtualbox versions 4.1 and below
virtual box version 4.1 and below is libre software
as long as you dont get the non-free guest addittions program
