The free software movement fails when users embrace proprietary whenever it  
brings a little practical convenience: why would manufacturer ship free  
firmware if almost all users accept proprietary firmware (and the malware it  
probably includes)?  The TP-Link TL-WN722 is not hard to find (online or in  
physical stores) and costs little; two companies sell freedom-respecting  
devices and ship worldwide.
