I'm just going to poke my head in here one more time and hope I'm not adding to the confusion.
I'm not sure how handy you are with a screwdriver, but I would suggest removing everything. All your Windows drives, Data drives, absolutely everything except the drive that you want to install Trisquel on. You probably don't know that Gnu/Linux can boot from an external USB drive. I didn't know this was unusual until I put a Win7 drive in an enclose and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't boot. Once you have a working Trisquel install, you can plug in the USB drives and pick up your screwdriver to put the SATA drives back. JMHO, of course.
