Like the title suggests I'm looking for a way to run Trisquel 9 in a VM. I was just wondering a couple things regarding non-free software which I must run. I'm currently using an iPhone and to jailbreak it there is a non-free package available through a PPA.

My solution to not contaminate my current setup was to flash Trisquel 9 MATE iso to a flash drive which I then would boot using 'Try trisquel without installing' I would then need to add the PPA, the key, install the package, then run the jailbreaking program. I have to do this every time I reboot my phone because the way the jailbreak works is it injects code during boot of phone. I figured this was the way to go since it was isolated on a USB and not running non-free code on my main OS.

This has become very tedious recently, as my phone battery keeps dying, and I've been trying to explore different options. One of these being installing a VM with Trisquel 9 and not having to install the PPA every time, nor having to reboot my machine to do this.

My questions are:

Which VM should I be using? I've never run a VM on GNU/Linux and need some advice in this regard.

Will a VM even be a correct solution? Will it isolate the non-free stuff from my main OS?

Thanks for your help!
