Anyhow, because we are made as individuals with different tastes and personalities and are not clones, we gravitate towards are own preferences. I think this is self evident.
Gary, I think you are hinting at some questions about the *validity* of judging music. My response to this is as follows:
I sometimes cringe when I hear people calling music a universal language because that denotes communicating something that means one specific thing. I just don't see it that way.
However, music that is anointed tends to "speak" peace to the spirit of man. As you have probably read in the Old Testament, music cast out demons from Saul. I think it was because the music was anointed and not because of the actual notes played by David's hand. The only other reason would be that demon spirits are attracted to strong emotions and when the music was played, these strong emotions were somehow calmed and the evil spirits left him.
Do you think the HS would stand up and take his hat off for the National Anthem? Only if Bill Gaither's playin' it? How about for the Canadien Anthem--would he stand for that (too)?
If He had one, I believe the HS is a gentleman and would be respectful to whatever is appropriate and righteous.
What does the HS tell you about MLK's sermons--have you ever listened to them? What do you think of them? Does the HS like Israel's sermons(?)--which ones? Why?
Since my wife teaches speech and debate I have had a chance to listen to some of them. I think they move people because it speaks to the heart of issues. The HS has not spoken to me about them, so you'll have to ask Him yourself.
