DAVEH: So far Perry, I'm only hearing it from three vocal people......you, Izzy and g. (At least I did not perceive that DavidM was complaining too.) I'm not sure how many TTers are subscribed, but I suspect three does not represent a majority.Would other TTers be willing to weigh in on this discussion?
And bold people we are. There are very few posters on TT, anyway, and most are probably just too polite or timid to voice their honest impressions about others. I once spoke with someone from a senator's office that said a very small number of voices are taken by the senator to mean a lot...simply because most say nothing. When a small percentage speaks loudly and repeatedly, it carries a lot of weight! The same may be true in this forum! Plus, consider that Clinton was elected for his first term with less than 50% of the vote! Most people DID NOT choose for him to be president!
Am I also making you uncomfortable with my posts? And does my presence in TT bother you?
I am not at all bothered by your presence on TT. Although TT appears to have primarily Christian subscribers, and is "owned" by a Christian, I have always viewed it as an open religious discussion.
At times I am uncomfortable with your posts. The things that discomfort me about your posts are:
1) the occasional disingenuous nature of them, and sometimes with a dose of arrogance mixed in,
2) the fact that you unconditionally believe the dogma of the LDS church over Scripture, facts, and common sense. (You are not alone...this seems to be fairly common among Mormons. It is admirable in one respect, but very sad in another...since if they ARE being led down the wrong path, which I believe they are, they are being led like sheep to the slaughter. Interested students can read the postscript below for extra credit <G>)
3) your tendancy to use LDS doctrine to twist and abuse the Holy book of God (prooftexting).

PS.
Having been raised and baptised as a protestant, I left the church in 1968. After backsliding for 25 years, I returned to the church around 1993. One of my initial problems was that my heart was truly aching for the Mormons. I wondered how God could allow such a large group of wonderful and sincere people to be led so far astray. I spent about three years trying to understand what they believe, reading Mormon and anti-Mormon literature, and spending more than a year debating a Mormon man on the net (we are still friends and still occasionally communicate).
The best I can determine is that anytime man has forsaken the Holy Scripture for the words, ideas, or beliefs of a man (The Pope, Buddha, Joseph Smith, Mohammed, David Koresh, Jim Jones, L. Ron. Hubbard, etc) they have always been led astray. It is only when we keep our eye on Christ, and nose in the Word, that we truly come to know Him. It is my deep conviction that the Mormons, by placing the BoM and JS's "revelation" (D&C) ABOVE the Holy Scripture, do so in gross error, and in peril of possible damnation.
