> And perhaps you should refresh yourself with the following passage: > > "I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not > altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or > extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the > world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man > that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, > or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not > to eat." (1 Corinthians 5:9-11 KJV) > > Discipline in the form of not keeping company with sinners concerns > sinners who are brothers in the church. If you judge that Dave Hansen > is NOT a brother, then that frees you to keep company with him. If we > cannot keep company with those in the world, then why do we stay in this > world? As Paul says, "for then must ye needs go out of the world." **Dean writes: Thank you and I have refreshed myself with this verse as directed-and while I find some truth in you teachings I do not consider then to be complete. Yes- we must go into the world -as the gospel must be preached-but there are limits on our relationship with those of this world-as it is easier for them to pull us down then it is for us to bring then up-I didn't say this the Bible teaches this. Consider the teaching of John Wesley ( upon our Lord,s Sermon on the mount,4): I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators' (1 Cor. 5:9) And it is certainly not advisable so to company with them, or with any of the workers of iniquity,as to have any particular familiarity, or any strictness of friendship with them. To contrast or continue an intimacy with any such is no way expedient for a Christian. It must necessarily expose him to abundance of dangers and snares, out of which he can have no reasonable hope of deliverance. As to the other e-mail you sent I am praying as you suggested and will give my reply in due time as the spirit leads-Did you pray as I asked before you sent the reply? The important thing to remember here is that none of us yet have made it to heaven-and hell is not a place to risk going to-I believe you are opening up yourself and others to that risk.If you or any here on this list think this is personal between Daveh and me-you are incorrect-my anger does not stem for DaveH remarks-I consider you and the brethren to be in danger and am attempting to show you that danger. And if you will think back each time we came to this point it was after the brethren defended DaveH. In a way we are doing the same thing here we were doing with the AOG-thank God some of them listened-thus far you are not. Is it pride of being wrong or has your nature been influence to the point that reasoning is useless.Or do you consider me not able to speak the word of God to you-If so I advice you to speak to the brethren of my nature-as I have about yours-just before I recommended you to Ron Mcrae as a good state director for SPF. Yours in Christ, Dean Moore
