From: "David Miller" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I believe that we only receive Adam's genetic makeup in our bodies. My perspective is that the spirit and soul is created when a new person is born. Therefore, I would say that we have no "spiritual inheritance" in Adam, only physical inheritance.
Judy: You are wrong according to scripture which says: "We WERE dead through the trespasses and sins in which we once lived, following the course of this world, following the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work among those who are disobedient. ALL OF US once lived among them in the passions of our flesh, following the desires of flesh and senses, and we were BY NATURE children of wrath like everyone else." (Ephesians 2:1-3) We were all born into this world BY NATURE a child of wrath. DavidM: That physical inheritance, however, has a lot of impact on human behavior. It creates drives and impulses within us that are geared toward selfishness. Judy: This is the NATURE we are born with, the sin that indwells us and sin is a spiritual problem because it is against God. DavidM: This is sinful in that people invariably put their own needs above that of others. This tendency to be selfish and sinful is called a sin principle or sin nature and is targeted by Paul's rhetoric in Romans 7 where he explains the problems of the flesh interacting with the law of God. Judy: Twenty years after his conversion Paul wrote Romans 7 where he describes the conflict with sin dwelling in him in vss 14-25 DavidM: Transgression and sins do not "transfer." Judy: Adams transgression did (see Romans 5:18,19) DavidM: They are not a substance or thing that can be passed on. What is passed on is the physical body with the genetic makeup that codes for human behavior. Judy: Death transfers in the form of an indwelling sin nature that we all inherit. DavidM: The man who is "born again" rises above his genetic makeup to exhibit behavior based in the spirit rather than in the physical body of flesh. Judy: Only if he "walks after the Spirit" and does not fulfill the lust of the flesh. One is either a slave to sin or a slave to righteousness. Grace and Peace, Judy ---------- "Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man."
